Changing focus from Bangalore stories to the world. As we hope for a better 2021!

I wish all of us a Healing 2021, and not just Covid!

We humans have this ability to block bad news of the past as we look optimistically towards future. It is given that in a global human situation there would be winners and the losers! The noble souls are at one end of the spectrum and the vermin at the other. The economic status, level of education and so on has no bearing on this disparity. The almighty in his unfathomable wisdom, like the farmer throwing seeds on an open field, randomly spreads them around.

We have explanations for this difference, genes, DNA and so on. Earlier we were happy with words destiny or karma! I recall some optimist (or just a fool) hoped that Covid will be the beginning of the end of dominance by religions!

A few hoped, no harm being a fool at times, that we would become more respectful of Bhoodevi (Earth) and its rivers (the goddesses) acknowledging that the many varieties of fauna and flora, are necessary for our very existence and not just for our pleasure!

The capitalistic business model has taught us to wipe the slate clean at the end of the year. Good idea, but realities do not go away, just because of a balance sheet!

It was predicted that the countries with  large populations and poor infrastructure for health would be devastated. I hope the experts, especially the WHO, tell us why they were so wrong and how did some countries manage better.

Borrowed just one chart from worldometer! The huge difference in rate of death per million
illustrates how differently humans are dealing with health issues all across.

WHO, the UN organisation which has the status of rishis during vedic times have a great responsibility. While they do not have the direct authority, their words should be like 'vedavakya' , the final word on the subject of handling Covid pandemonium! They could and should monitor the situation and be above politics. The eminent doctors of the world should raise the red flag if politicians continue to take wrong decisions! I guess I am being the fool here!

Here is what Worldometer says about its' charts!

On a daily basis, we encounter an increasing number of reporting issues. Some of these include official governmental channels changing or retracting figures, or publishing contradictory data on different official outlets. National or State figures with old or incomplete data compared to regional, local (counties, in the US) government's reports is the norm, so we try to compensate by collecting the missing data and maintaining an accurate and timely count.

The death in the world this year would cross 59 million. There are so many causes of death.  Just road accident deaths are close to 1.4 million and Covid deaths would be short of 1.9 million!

I recall a book 'Death be not proud' by John Gunther! I hope  a book called 'Sapien Mend Your Ways' will be written and hopefully followed

We do live on HOPE!

Nidhi a change from your usual blogs. Agree on most of your points about the changing data, manipulation of facts by politicians and the predictions of UNO going wrong.

Now a prayer for a better 2021 and a wish for a very happy new year for you, Tara and your extended family. 🎊🎉🌈🙏

Nidhi I do agree that politicians may have 'massaged' data on cases, recoveries, deaths and tests conducted, but, the pandemic has raged in a lopsided manner in that advanced countries with excellent medical facilities have had a higher percentage of tests, cases and deaths while poorer countries have had better results. The fast tracking of approvals of various Vaccines offers hope for the future, but, I still do not hold out much hope that normalcy will be achieved even by 2022.
What will be the shape of the World and businesses by then is rather difficult to predict. The point remains that we will have lots of changes in lifestyles but it is difficult to say what it will eventually be like. The only thing to do is be grateful for what you have or can have rather than whining about what you have lost.
Best wishes for the New Year 2021 to Tara and self as also your extended family.
Prakash thanks for your take on the future. We need to be prepared😟🤞

In all this madness caused by the virus- economies of many
countries destroyed. human interaction banned. many small
businesses ruined, peoples' livelihood decimated, and this one
is the most damaging in my opinion; School routine disrupted
for a year to date, I have become a cynic and have come up with
the following thought for the new year. Laugh all you want.
I have lost my mind, but I am serious.

In my lifetime I have seen humans suffer due to absolute greed,
tyranny, and plain misuse of military power. The cycle repeats itself.
In the next design of this universe, why not do away with the
following, with not even a little trace of any of them?
Mao Tse Tung, Stalin, Hitler, PolPot, Communists, especially
The CCP, Bed bugs, and Mosquitoes.
Planet Earth would last longer.*

* But we humans are so stupid, we will destroy ourselves. God bless.

Have a Happy New Year,
