A pause in my blogging and the very interesting books I received as gifts!
Chandramouli noticed the pause in my blogging. Thanks to Prasan Kumar, the recent blogs were mostly on Iyengars and amazingly from Nuggehalli! There are many more suggestions to blog on Iyengars who contributed! Not just in the armed forces, in other ways as well and a few are on the anvil.
The present formula has been to request people who are close to the ‘contributors’ to write. It is not restricted only to Iyengars. Nice many volunteered, hoping for others!
It is time to blog about the younger generations! My two golfing buddies, also entrepreneurs, Jay Sethuram and Pradip Grama will have interesting stories to contribute! And surely there are many many more!
A comment from Lt. Gen. Raghunath, who also has his origins in Nuggehalli and the protagonist of an earlier blog, set me thinking! The scope of such research is limitless. “The Hebbar Iyengar community is an interesting but numerically small community. .... A lot can be written about this community which is like a tenkullal/spaghetti. The older generation could pick up the links .. a skill that is lost now as the generation of the early 20th century has passed on. In fact the community is ideal for genetic studies. .. my random thoughts.”
Around this time, B.C. Nagaraj, my childhood friend, we met after 50+ years, gifted me a book published by his wife Dr. Ramamani Ph.D based on her research. An wonderful compilation of 'Contributions of Srivaishnavas to Karnataka'.
Around this time I was also gifted two fascinating books! One a Biography in the form of a novel another an Autobiography. These books take are beyond the present subjects and style of blogging!
A delightful book about a grandmother. I kept thinking of my dear grandmother as I read thru. I hope to create a series of blogs based on grandmothers! Reminded me of a book, ambi by Vimla Murthy, and Srivani Jade reminiscing about her grand parents on FB It was a pleasant surprise as Co-author Vidya, also a very busy executive & Nagaraj have been neighbors for years of Tara's parents first and now ours! |
At present hon. consultant in Dermatology and Wellness Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, where he served as its Medical Director till 2010. A charitable hospital in Whitefield, Bangalore.
He joined Department of Health and Medical services,Government of Dubai in 1972 and retired Director of Primary Health Care in 2002. Now he is a visiting consultant at the Dubai Herbal & Treatement Centre, which he set up in 2003 and retired as its Medical Director in 2010.
Dr. Acharya continues to be a visiting consultant at DHTC. His visa status has not changed and his consulting room is still there for him kept undisturbed. The following defines the status and regard he enjoyed especially from the Royal family in Dubai: ....one day I met His Highness and told him about my relocation to India: that it was a "Call from my Spiritual Master" and that I had to go. He finally agreed and said, "On one condition though, you have to come whenever I need you and call you, and you may come whenever you want to."
It is a challenge to present his story in a blog; as a family man, nurturing and supporting. Of his evolution, by the grace of Baba, as a holistic doctor and as an evolved spiritual human being. We have all been through anxiety since January 2020. As Covid 19 cases are going up again, there is need for more reassurance and counselling now!
In such times a doctor, especially a Dr.Acharya in the family is a blessing for sure.

"I had planned to end the blog here. Not really possible, as the second wave of Covid 19 has begun, we need to worry about the Young Doctors and other staff who continue to be the front line workers during the Pandemic. Senior doctors who give them guidance and support. The real worry is about the children. Their movement being controlled again!
I had covered the first wave in 30+ blogs. Will desist now as Covid fatigue has surely set in many ways! It is also difficult to find right data and being updated on time! The real question is how relevant the blogs would be? It is a tower of babel out there and there is no point in adding to the confusion. It is best to leave it to the experts."
