Nandita writes a poem about the 'blue dot' on which our existence depends!

      'We Need You
        to Act Now'
Nandita Narayan Ghosh

Our blue dot is dying, and we are the reason,
To ourselves we are lying, we deserve treason!

Global warming is the problem and we are the solution,
We just need to stop creating pollution!

We have had 30 years of discussions,
if we don't take action it will have serious repercussions!

We are putting fumes and chemicals in what we NEED to breathe,
Where is the action? With anger I seethe.

We will say "Peace for our Planet!"
Then we hurt our ozone, it is our earth's protective blanket!

We cut down trees,
and then we wonder why there isn't a breeze!

Imagine if in the future a child could not even think
of what a giraffe was because they were extinct?

Where are our beautiful corals rolling in the deep,
Come on! We need to wake up from our sleep.

"1 person can't do anything," isn't that strange?
Because together, each one of us can make a change.

Following sustainability,
Even small things, like taking public mobility.

It is our duty to ensure,
an ecological balance we must secure!

From David A. Berg to Greta T. Berg, they have all said their word,
Now it is time for our planet to be heard!

Dear twenty forty five,
I hope that after this poem, we will fight for you to stay alive.

Age: 11 years old

Nandita took part in  Art Mantram's GlassHouse Festival of  Poetry Competition  and she was a winner, placed third.

We are all talking about how due to our greed etc., we just made Bangalore unlivable. We changed a beautiful city with lakes cascading from one into the other depending on the season into a concrete jungle! The lakes were neglected and allowed to die so that huge towers came up.

Bangalore could indeed become a large graveyard if  we don't heed the words of Nandita and others like her!

1                    Bangalore has become a tower of babel! It is not about the usual politics. It is how the city is going down the drain!

I                    I was thinking about  the blog Nandita contributed for my collection! She was eight years old and was so happy to see a lake rejuvenated and wrote about it!

Amazing that around the same time Raji, her grandmother shared the poem she wrote!

Excellent poem , all the angst so aptly expressed. I keep thinking , why is it that despite the brains that we're endowed with, we've turned out to be the most deplorable species as we keep obliterating a once shiny, airy path to keep digging a bleak future for our kids and theirs and theirs ....

So touching......what are we doing to save our planet?

I can feel the little mind's lines penned with pain and your articulation of what Bengaluru today has become are really thought provoking.

Lovely.
I wish everyone thinks like this 11 year old and acts their part.
Once a garden city is turning into a wasted city.
Only when each of us do our part, will we be able to see some light.
Let's wish, hope and pray

Kudos to Nandita ! Hope she retains this "Junoon" when she is making a living as an adult.

Can you kindly send me her lake rejuvenation essay with the Before and After pics as a separate attachment for circulation to my friends.
Cheers
