Corona times 2020 -10. Analysis of data predicts grim days ahead. We can come out of it if we act right!

We are reminded constantly
"India has done much better than the advanced countries."
A website worldometer confirms it, though it keeps changing.

Coronavirus data of the top  22 countries. Highest at the top.
India at  22th position is good considering our population is second highest in the world.              That USA has 30% +ve cases of the world is shocking. So are the numbers for Italy, Spain, France and UK. These 22 countries have almost 90% of the positive cases and shockingly death in just 13 countries is at 92% of the world total. There must be answers to this.

Almost all these countries are under lock-down, some in total and others have various levels of restrictions. There will be variations, depending on what is the best for each of them.
Most of these countries have a good to decent health care systems.

India with  0.5% positive cases and 3.4% of death, higher than Korea,Canada and a few others is on total lock-down. We are very nervous and see a huge challenge ahead considering our rural population, poverty and the level of rural hospitals.     At the moment we have 7,243 active cases and no critical cases. There are obviously many more under quarantine and perhaps a lot more who are not on the radar. The plight of the migratory workers is a serious issue. Numbers quoted are staggering. I saw a government notification which does not augur well for Senior citizens. I may be in lock-down for ever. Astonishingly anyone who is 60 years old is considered a senior citizen. That is not what the WHO says!

There is a change in the tone of the various disparate groups, that includes various states and other groups with their own agenda. We see the central and the state governments are talking to each other and let us hope we will find the right answers. There would be a lot of preparedness. However, I have not seen a report similar to what the Russians have published. I hope to locate it.
I fervently hope that we set a direction towards removing the total lock-down  before 30th April.  Continued lock down is not our way. It should not be the first option. Let's seriously examine  other options too!

Even within India, the incidence of +ve cases vary. Kerala which was the first to have a +ve case has done well. Even Karnataka is lower than many other states  even though it has 6 dead instead of 2 in Kerala. Let's take lessons from them too!

Clearly how these top countries tackle the various serious issues will influence  the future of Humankind. We must also protect the less affected countries as well  There are a lot of do's and dont's for each country.  Health, industrial production, agriculture and economical recovery!

The writing on the wall is clear, especially as seen by experienced doctors. We  need to find a vaccine as soon as possible. It will still take 12 to 18 months of trial before it can be used in a mass scale across the world. There are some trials on the existing medicines. Not yet in a scale to give hope. Surely grim days ahead.

In the meanwhile, all that is needed is seemingly simple, keep distance and Isolate the sick ones. As we have discovered the simple things are the toughest for our species. Humans are weird in many ways. There are many examples. Mahabharata taught us that we get inexplicably crazy at times. Hundreds of thousands died in a matter of 18 days, just because one cousin got jealous of another's success. And this craziness was repeated in a matter of 39 years, when the Yadava clan fought with each other till the last man was dead! Could one have predicted that people, who fought the brits together, would break the country apart and be in constant strife!

I read recently that some insiders made money in these terrible times. How does one react to this news? Perhaps it is legal. However Greed has no limit. China is blamed for hiding the news from the world and the delay cost the rest of the world. There are talks of taking them to court and recover damages! We know that war crimes are punishable. Wonder if International Criminal Court will handle this!

Will one crazy guy push the world into war or his friend and our beloved ex-chaiwala will  dissuade him?

Let's hope ego clash and short sightedness does not lead to more misery and suffering
